Levan Bezhashvili, Regional Governor of Kakheti has inquired into the arbitrary detention of Gia Khangoshvili, a twenty-one-year-old Chechen Refuge. Earlier today, the governor met with family members of the detainee, who provided details surrounding the detention of their loved one. Mr. Bezhashvili promised the family his support.

On March 8 2007 at night, Chechen refugee Hasan Shakhbulatov, who resided in the village of Jokholo in the Pankisi Gorge, was murdered in unidentified circumstances. The neighbors last saw him at 8:30 PM on March 8 in the village mosque. He was praying there. On March 9 at 11:00 AM, a refugee woman found his body in the yard of the mosque. The dead person had three bullet lodges in his head and injuries on the body.
On the same day, law enforcers spread unofficial information that the accident was resulted form the religious controversy between so-called Vahabists and traditional Muslims. The information was broadcast on TV too.

120 Chechen Refugees living in the Pankisi Gorge are leaving for their home country. Only 120 out of 674 refugees in the gorge expressed their wish to return to the Russian Federation. The Russian Emigration Service assures their safe return to Chechnya. detailed

On the 6th October 2005, Chechen refugee Mahomed Mahaev applied to the ’Human Rights Information and Documentation centre’ defining that the Georgian General Prosecutor’s Office had launched the preliminary investigation against his Humanitarian Organization ’Imedi’ activities and asked for help.

For more than a week Chechen refugees living in Georgia have been on a hunger strike in front of the UNHCR building in Tbilisi. The participants do not intend to stop the hunger strike, and they demand that the UNHCR fulfill their requirements. The refugees have demanded that 500 Chechen refugee families be taken to a third country, or that their living conditions in Georgia be improved.  detailed
